At just over one year old, Calvin Niles, the grandson of HMR Regional Vice President Wanda Rubin, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia – B Cell. What followed was a journey of strength, resilience, and unwavering hope as Calvin faced a battle no child should ever have to endure.
In response, HMR launched the “Caring for Calvin” Campaign, a company-wide initiative created to support Calvin and his family during this incredibly difficult time. From matching GoFundMe donations and themed Fundraiser Fridays, to community walks, virtual runs, and heartfelt well-wishes, the HMR team rallied together — united in purpose, love, and determination to lift up Calvin every step of the way. Calvin’s story brought together staff, residents, and community partners across the portfolio in ways that deeply reflect the compassion and strength of the HMR family.
Today, we are overjoyed to share that Calvin has officially rung the bell and is in remission. This milestone marks the end of a long and challenging chapter, and the beginning of a new one filled with healing, happiness, and endless possibility. We are so proud to have stood beside Calvin and his family throughout this journey and will continue cheering him on as he moves forward with strength and a bright future ahead.
