
Housing Management Resources, Inc. in partnership with Rees-Larkin Development, MassHousing, DHCD, City of Fitchburg, Stratford Capital Group, Keith Construction, The Architectural Team and more teams up with the goal of providing more affordable housing for families in Fitchburg. The development of 44 affordable and workforce apartment homes as part of the Moran Sq. redevelopment. The funding advances the conversion of two historic buildings and the construction of a new five-story apartment building in downtown.
Rees-Larkin’s Moran Sq. redevelopment will convert the former Summer St. Fire Station into two apartments, redevelop the former three-story commercial Harper Building into 14 apartments, and construct a new, five-story building with 28 apartments between the two historic structures, with a common corridor and common mechanical systems linking the three buildings.
Located at 1 Summer St. in downtown, the Moran Sq. redevelopment will have five apartments for households earning up to 30% of the Area Median Income (AMI), which will be supported by federal Section 8 housing assistance, 15 apartments for households earning up to 60% of AMI, and 24 workforce housing units for moderate-income households earning up to 80% of AMI. The AI for Fitchburg is $90,700 for a household of four.
There will be one studio apartment, 14 one-bedroom apartments, 23 two-bedroom apartments, and six three-bedroom apartments. The project will also create 8,200 square feet of commercial space. The studio, one, two, and three-bedroom units offer a variety of floor plan options, modern kitchen appliances, ample closet space, and vinyl plank flooring. Residents will enjoy easy access to shopping, entertainment, direct proximity to the MBTA rail station and MART bus terminal along with a host of onsite amenities and 24-hour maintenance service.
